The story was just mediocre for fantasy. Instantaneous love with no substance, shallow characters, and an acceptable magic system. I almost give it 1 star because of the author's poor use of metaphor/simile. If I remember correctly, there's a part where an army of rebels is gathering and he describes them as rising like dew on the grass... That doesn't even make sense. That's one of many possible examples. It could have been a great book if there was a lot more substance and a little more... poetry. Loved this book! I don't read to many fantasies because few catch my interest but this book was great. I will defiantly read the rest in the trilogy which is something I don't normally do. I would have giving it five stars but the story lagged a bit in some places and the beginning started off a little slow but it you can hung on a little and stick with it, it get much better and the ending makes you want to read the rest. So like I said Loved This Book!
I loved this couldn't put it down read in 2 days then started book two immediately!

I'm not a big fan of First Person writing, but the book was enjoyable.
