Rating: 3 out of 5.Nick and Casey have been really good friends for the past few months. Both are crazily attracted to one another, the only thing keeping them apart is Nick's secrets.And he has a lot of them.I didn't like the one last secret that came out with regards to the evil other woman. I found that his justification for keeping that secret was lacking.But overall, the novel was funny and engaging.ARC Courtesy of NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC. Casey seems to be an A-hole magnet when it comes to dating when the man she really would love to date is her best friend and neighbor Nick. Nick has it bad for Casey and it kills him every time she goes out with and gets hurt by some loser but the last thing he wants to do is hurt her himself and as a vampire he could hurt her physically as well as emotionally. Ms. Havens writes a funny, sexy and at wild relationship between Casey and Nick and creates her own version of the vampire/paranormal world with a Supernatural Council, werewolves that have become vampires, mages, witches and demon minions. Nick and Casey have to not only worry about the Council and archaic laws they have crazy witches who control demon minions out to get them as well. This has a snarky and feisty heroine who's quips can make you snort with laughter and a 800 year old vampire who is so overprotective that he tries to protect Casey from himself. This makes for a sometime wishy washy feel to Nick but by the same token it makes him dear to you because he cares so much. I look forward to more books that perhaps showcase some of the secondary characters from this book. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
A fun, quick read. A likable heroine and a dreamy, sexy hero. Made me laugh out loud several times.
