About book T4 (2008)

Its 1939 and Hitler is in power, he just Passed the T4 bill, allowing to pick up disabled and run test on them. A young Thirteen year old Girl Named Paula Becker was deaf. As rumors of Nazis were coming to her rural German town. The neighborhood priest came to save Paula and being her to sanctuary but still Paula has to stay one step ahead of the Nazi as the same time learn to deal with her disability and make new friends along the journey. I can use this book in my classroom on the chapter of Poetry as well as WWII. Having the students take the idea of using poetry to tell a life story by creating their own story using a poem. Then I can use this book as a tool to explain WWII and the disaster that happen in Germany and how each person had a unique story even the ones that did not pass through the wrath of Hitler. o LeZotte, Ann Clare (2008). T4. Boston: Houghton Mifflin. Chloe BaskesT4 Book Report11-22-13Paula Becker lives in a small home in Germany in 1939. Since she was a toddler, she had been losing her hearing. In the story, Paula was thirteen and completely deaf. In 1939, people started noticing the disappearance of minorities, meaning jews, and disabled people. The Nazi’s were claiming that they would help the disabled, but would actually kill them. In some strange, morbid world called 1930’s Germany, killing people was considered acceptable. She is scared for her life. Paula and her parents agree that she needs to go into hiding just in case the Nazi’s see her and take her away. She is first sent with a friend of her family who then sends her off to many other homes for the sole purpose of keeping her safe. While in hiding, she meets a lot of people just like herself. But will making new friends and bonding with people be enough to keep her safe?In T4, I loved how the author, Ann Clare Lezotte demonstrates the real fear that Paula feels. The similes throughout the book were chilling and intense. I wish the story was a little bit more descriptive because at times, the language was very boring. The plot itself was amazing and nothing ever felt too slow or rushed. The characters all seemed very realistic. Although I couldn’t relate to any of the situations that they were put in, I felt as if I knew the characters. I think I connected with Paula the most because we are about the same age. At times, I was a little bit bored with the language but I really enjoyed reading T4. A few motifs in the book were hiding, fear, and deaf. I a reader who is looking for a suspenseful and astonishing book, they should definitely read this book. I would give this book 3 stars because it was great besides the fact that it should have been a little bit more descriptive. Overall, I really enjoyed this book.

this was a very interesting topic presented in a rather pedestrian and uncompelling way, sadly.
