I had the honor of having the authors come to my school and talk to me and my fellow classmates. At that time I hadn't read STR yet so it really meant nothing to me. As soon as I picked up the book I fell in love. I couldn't put the book down. I personally enjoyed the map of the bay because I could picture some of the locations. I recommend for anyone over 10 or so. It's full of mystery, suspense, humor, and of course a little romance. Way to go Jay and John! I can't wait for book 2 This was a cute book, but boy did it take me a long time to read. I liked Jake, Tommy, and Darcy and all the parts Jake was out with the Captain were descriptive and intriguing. But there comes a point where you can only take so much quahogging. It just became really tedious after a while to read scene after scene of Jake quahogging. That was my one major complaint about the book. Too much quahogging, not enough character moments. I thought it was really sweet that the name of the pub Jake's mom owned was called "The Riptide." I feel like that was a cute little nod to Percy Jackson. (John Rocco is the illustrator of the official art for the Percy Jackson series.) I was kind of mad at Jake's mom for letting her son do all this illegal nonsense. I get that she's busy and stressed, but geez woman, keep a watch on your poor, overworked 14 year old son. Her crappy parenting really got to me. It didn't seem all that believable that a mom would be this clueless. I feel like Rocco wanted me to feel sorry for her but it was really hard to. This was a fun book, not my favorite, but a good summer read nonetheless. Too bad it took me so long to get through it that it was no longer summer by the time I was done!
Do You like book Swim That Rock (2014)?
Husband Sculptor Mike really liked this one, so the four stars are his for now. Will start it soon.
