About book Sweet Poison (2008)

An easy to read account of how damaging sugar is to our bodies. Fructose is not counted by our body, so we can eat an enormous amount and still feel hungry. It also can't be used like carbs (glucose) in our muscles and goes straight to fat storage. I didn't pay too much attention to his dangers of ketosis chapter as I think he's mixing this up with Diabetic ketoacidosis as we can adapt to run on fat. Wow! This book was amazing! It explained all about sugar and weight gain and the much more important health dangers posed by fructose in a way that the dummy in me could understand and yet the scholar in me could recognize as valid. It is the best commonsense evidence I have yet read about the hazards of sugar, and I am almost convinced. (The next few weeks of low-fructose eating will see whether I am convinced.)
