Amy is a textile designer. She has made a lovely home for her husband, Evan, and their two children. But the mill where he is the CEO has failed. Evan left her and the children. His excuse is he hates where they live and she is not a good enough wife. She manages to get the house in the divorce, which she now has to sell. Amy is trying to save the mill and the town. But another bid for the mill has come in to the bankruptcy judge. Jacques Saint-Etienne, a European, has come to North Fork. He doesn't really want the mill. He just wants the design cards from when the mill was first started. He makes historically correct reproductions.He and Amy meet and they are meant for each other but she wants to save her town and stay. He lets her into his heart but he cannot stay in North Carolina.
