About book Survival Of The Fittest (2002)

Woo hoo! Outstanding! Fantastic! Marvelous! Phenomenal! Knocked it out of the park!I thought Alex bought it this time! (Ok, that was true hyperbole - I'm looking at ten more paperbacks to go in the series on my floor - ; D )Anyway. I loved loved loved loved loved this one! Very exciting, couldn't put it down, interesting characters, realistic plot (Google rogue police departments - so many big city police are under the watchful eye of the Feds right now, being 'observed'). Alex is now a major league thrill junky, in the name of justice and righteous rage, but he never loses his cool, even when Death has walked into the room......Some GREAT sentences:"....shot fifteen dollars' worth of tar heroin into a faltering vein.""Crystal and silver played with the sun.""They were both good-looking people who seemed drained of their life-juices.""Which is as likely as OJ feeling remorse.""Some of the houses flamingoed on stilts, others rested at skeptical angles on tremor-throttled foundations."Come on, you KNOW that's good prose!Plus, once again, Kellerman mixed in actual Truth - that Hitler didn't invent initiating racial genocide because of a supposed white race supremacy or forced castration on 'damaged' handicapped people. The author quotes liberally from REAL documents written by American and European university professors. The only thing I would add is that some Asian countries have their own historical, supposed genetic superiority science and printed documents and articles, 'proving' for whatever Asian race professor that did the 'work' that their nation's genetic racial superiority exists in the same vein of discussion. In real world history, most civilizations have such writings. The ancient Greeks believed deformed monster people lived in nearby countries.

I NEITHER HIDE, NOR FEED, MY REVIEWS. THEY MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS.LA-based child psychologists Alex Delaware is the main guy in this mystery, which starts out with the homicide of a young, hearing-impaired daughter of a California-based Israeli diplomat. She is lured away and killed during a school field trip to a local forest preserve.Delaware is not an official detective. But his job puts him in contact with arms of the law, including police departments and the courts. An LA police detective, Milo Sturgis, is a good friend of Alex, as well as a sounding board and, sometimes, fellow team member to understand this or that crime. What they uncover is a neo-Nazi organization that has begun murdering handicapped individuals as part of its belief that inferior human specimens need to be eliminated for the good of mankind.Interesting interplay between local police, feds and international agents -- i.e., Israelis connected with the young victim's diplomat father. When Alex attempts to infiltrate the scary organization, it seemed over-the-top on author's part. It reminded me of TV shows, such as "24," in which the writers want to keep the cast small to heighten the drama, with the result being unrealistic heroes like Jack Bauer, who can do anything single-handed, from computers, to combat, to explosives, to surveillance. But I liked Alex, and the story, enough to read to the end!

Do You like book Survival Of The Fittest (2002)?

"Survival of the Fittest" by Jonathan Kellerman is a psychological crime thriller with a Darwinistic twist gone awry. I unknowingly selected this book without realizing that this was a part of a series, but this novel can stand alone. It starts off with psychologist, Dr. Alex Delaware and detective Milo Sturgis at the crime scene of Irit Carmeli, the daughter of an Israeli diplomat. At first, the diplomat denies any political motive, but as the bodies begin piling up, the victims all have one thing in common. In a game of cat and mouse, Dr. Delaware and Det. Sturgis must find out who's on their side and who is behind these crimes with a eugenical twist. Does the officer Nolan Dahl, who committed suicide have something to do with it? Is it politically driven? Kellerman does a fantastic job of weaving a great plot, driven characters and Los Angeles as its main setting. A great, fast read, and enjoyable on its own as well as part of a series.

Disgustingly concocted to spread pro-Israeli propaganda and politically correct, anti-Western drivel at every turn. Israelis are victims of terrorists (oh, the irony), the lead detective is a shunned homosexual, a black cop can't get ahead because of "departmental racism," ad nauseam. Every harebrained politically correct, culturally Marxist bogeyman is thrown in with the kitchen sink, Kellerman's motive undoubtedly being to get points for gasps. The writing itself is snappy, energetic, fun at first glance. But the novelty quickly wears off and you find yourself rolling your eyes as you progress inevitably toward a half-baked denouement of bad guys with motives that would seem plausible only to the most indoctrinated variety of liberal imbecile.Only for blind followers of the freakish Zeitgeist.

This book provides insight into eugenics and the concept that the weak should be culled, even from the human 'herd' to protect the species. Kellerman provides chapter and verse on those in the past who advocated removing people who are developmentally disabled from the gene pool. Although the book was published in 1997, it gives some terrifying insights into the minds of the bureaucrats today who have no problem cutting and/or eliminating funding to those programs in our country that provide services to the disabled. If you read it when published, give it another read. The mindset will give you chills.
