About book Struck By Lightning: The Carson Phillips Journal (2012)

Struck By Lightningby Carson PhilipsReview done by: Jana Alaslani(as if told by the main character)As a high school student, I am responsible to think of my future. My future is all I am supposed to think about.Ummmm...But before my future, I'll tell you about my present. I'm Carson Philips, a high school student. I live with my mom in Clover Town. My dad had left us years ago. But never mind it doesn't matter anymore. We have already got used to living without him. Also, I guess I'm a brilliant student. This is not only my opinion, but also the opinion of almost everyone around me, "except for some haters".Ever since I was a child, my dream is to become a famous journalist, the best, not only in my country yet in the whole world. But at the same time I really do not care about which university I'll enter. I just want to study journalism and be able to publish my journal entries. On my way home I can feel that a storm is coming. The sky seems gloomy and the wind is somehow wild. It is as if an immense and violent light will be cast by the sky. I am actually frightened because of the fact that getting struck by lightning can be deadly. Yes I am afraid of lightning! Here it goes... Heavy-handed sermon on young life with clichés every other line as presented by an improbably rude narrator. There is no getting lost in the story because it feels too much like a story, perhaps one written by a student. It rings false in some places & awkward in others. That said, the deus ex machina ending (plus the fact that I just HATED the way the "dream deferred" plotline ended) is what really drops it down to the lowest possible score.I wanted to like this (the beginning was promising), but now I find myself annoyed instead.Edit: I see some reviewers saying that the book seems like the movie hastily written down, that the movie is better, etc. I am not left wanting to seek out the movie.

Do You like book Struck By Lightning: The Carson Phillips Journal (2012)?

Umm. Started. Abandoned. Complaining about all the things isn't what I want at the moment.

Amazing writing, but the story itself was not one of my favorites.
