About book Still Point (2014)

I can only say that I was deeply disappointed with the terrible, fake unrealistic ending. The idea of the whole series was pretty original, but I always wait for the ending to make my final judgements. And it is here. One of the worst endings ever, that in my opinion destroyed the whole idea of the book. And by the way, I save the one star rating for books that are even worse.Including spoilers...This last book was absolutely tiring. They kept kidnapping Maddie and in one way or another she always managed to escape. This was so fake. And I hated the idea of Paul altogether. It's not because he was one of the bad guys, it's because once again, he was fake. In the first book he liked Maddie so much and asked her out on a date and everything. And out of nowhere he hates her and in the end he tries to kill her. Don't get me wrong these things can happen in books or who knows maybe in real life, but it was the author's duty to explain to us how this change happened. But there were two big disappointments. The second is the whole thing about her dad never wanting DS to be like that and the fact that he was on her side the other time. It was so stupid that I thought Katie Kacvinsky just didn't know what solution to give to the problem and settled with something lame. According to her, the person who created the program couldn't stop it from becoming a national law since the first day it was created? Because that is what he said. When he created it, it was supposed to be by choice. So what the hell happened. You know what maybe there is a really good explanation in the author's head even about this, but we should have read it! But the best thing to do in order to get rid of all the explanation, is to simply kill the guy, right? Sure, there goes the death of Kevin Freeman. And the grand finale, the biggest disappointment of all. The end of the whole love story. This whole thing began with Maddie's love for Justin and a bit after, his love for her. It was all in favour of Justin and in fact, when the author writes a book, she shows the feelings of the character in order to let us know who she really loves most. But what happened here? We were lead to love Justin. The whole first two books and half of the third book were all about her and Justin. But poof! Somehow she realised she loved this guy more and this guy loved her even more than Justin. But how? When did this happen? What about all those feelings and descriptions on the other books with Justin. Oh, but those don't matter! But how did she fall for this guy and we didn't even realise it was happening? Hey, it's too much to ask! Getting to understand the book is crossing the line! No, I did not like this book. No good ending? Not a good book. This one seemed a bit repetitive. Honestly, I had forgotten about this series until I saw it on NG. I was a bit excited to see how it ended, especially with that synopsis. There were some pretty good twists and a few things I didn't see coming. However, for the most part, the entire plot seemed like filler until the very rushed ending. Maddie is very wishy washy in this book and I really struggled with that. Also, I'm so so so tired of this new trend of introducing a new love interest in the middle of the ending book of a series. Even though I really liked Jax and their interactions, I couldn't get over the instant love triangle. Overall, it was a sort of a let down and in my opinion, another example of a series that didn't need to be a trilogy. **Huge thanks to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and NetGalley for providing the arc in exchange for an honest review**
