About book Spirit Sanguine (2013)

I enjoyed this book a lot and the three stars has more to do with the format of the book more than anything else. I just don't enjoy episode type books like this with a story that doesn't flow together. I found the break between the first and second story really jarring since it took place between I'm assuming a large time gap. The first episode they were just starting a couple the seconded they were settled in. I missed the settling in stuff. Other than that I did enjoy to characters and world that this book took place in. I also liked the cross book character of Denton that popped up in the second part of the book and was more than a little interested in Gabe. This book did a wonderful job of keeping the paranormal aspects normal and commonplace where at times I forgot this was a vampire book despite the fact most of plot revolved around finding vampires or Gabe's past as a vampire slayer. I also liked the role reversal going on in this book. Where Gabe was more serious and brooding and Harvey was the upbeat vegetarian Buddhist vampire. They made a rather quirky couple together and I really liked how their relationship evolved. It took me awhile to warm up to this story, but once I got going...I started to invest some emotional ties with the two main Characters of Harvey and Gabe.Gabe is a Vampire Hunter who has come home to Chicago from Hungry and staking old world and slightly off Vampires. Harvey is the first American Vampire he encounters but doesn't kill right away. Their first meetings are tense at best, but both....especially Harvey have a sense of humor at were they find themselves at. They soon become close, but never really knowing were they stand with each other. There's no problem with the sex part, that's always good...but each cant place what exactly they are to each other. They've moved in together and for all intense and purposes seem and act like a couple, but there's a separation there that needs to be dealt with to finally come to realize love.Maybe some dangerous real spy games will make them realize what they really mean to each other....Harvey is pretty much sure it's love. All background stories are told, which some books fail miserably to take care of and that's an added plus for me. Good Job all around...sexy and good reading. It helps that where Harvey and Gabe are concerned, anything is game! Fun and caring couple.
