About book Song Of Scarabaeus (2010)

(This is not really a romance, but I'm sticking it on that shelf anyway.) I liked this a lot, with a few small caveats. A lot of strong character development in the secondary characters - I actually felt that the main character was least clear to me, as a person, and that made the semi-romance between the lead and her protector not quite as compelling as how that sounded to my brain. (It sounded awesome!) Nonetheless, I liked it. Interesting worldbuilding. I'd like to read the next book, eventually. This will definitely be a "your mileage may vary" review. Why do I say this? Because if I have a romantic bone in my body, it is a tiny one, perhaps the tip of my pinky. You need to like blossoming, rushed stories of attraction to enjoy a good chunk of this book. I don't care to read about glistening chests as the male lead leaves the shower. Not my thing, but you may enjoy that very much.I did enjoy the science. I do not consider myself a hard science person at all. I found Red Mars to be a total bore. This story too surrounds the act of terraforming, but I found it much more compelling than Red Mars. I didn't find it difficult to understand despite the numerous bits of "alphabet soup" that you always find in science. I've been in IT or a long time, so perhaps that helps. We certainly have our share of acronyms. My favorite character was Cat. She seemed the most real to me, trying to make a life for herself, even if it means doing some not very nice things. In the end, we find out she not entirely self serving and that helps round her out.Edie annoyed me. She behaved irrationally in many ways due to her fanatical desire to save everybody and everything. Despite her strong feelings about situations, she came across more as a child having a fit than a rebel willing to stand up for what she thinks is right. This may have been alleviated by a slightly longer book where she could have been developed more. Some of my favorite parts of the story were the flashbacks from her childhood. More of this could have helped establish her behavior better.I haven't read the second book, so I'm hoping that Finn will be developed beyond the strong, brooding, freedom fighter, who provides the story's "eye candy".

Do You like book Song Of Scarabaeus (2010)?

Not a bad book, but now I have to read the next one because this one has a fair cliffhanger.
