OMG I LITERALLY LOVED THIS BOOK STOP READING THIS GO READ RIGHT NOW.Only rated 4 out of 5 stars because it was slow getting into, but oh man once it got started... I don't understand why the lack of hype!! I think I have fallen in love with Connor Rule, I keep picturing Connor Franta. OH OH OH and I just finished it and was telling my mom how I needed a sequel, and then I search this book to give this review and THERE'S ANOTHER ONE OUT THERE OMG OMG OK MY LIFE IS NOW COMPLETE.YET AGAIN I SAY GO READ THIS BOOK. NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. I didn't totally dislike this book, I mean, it was an easy summer read and it was what I was in the mood for. But, I've read other contemporaries that are so much better. There was nothing I particularly hated, but I wasn't swept away either. For starters, most of the characters felt very one dimensional and in a book set over one summer I need brilliant characters. I didn't feel anything for the romantic relationship - I was just groaning at the insta-love and the lack of any build-up or development. Coupled in with this was the end - I like happy endings (who doesn't?!) and I know it's to be expected in books like this but it was tied up so neatly in just a few pages. Also, the 'secrets' that are discussed in the blurb don't even really come into play. I could guess them all too quickly, and once they were revealed nothing was particularly done with them. It just left me feeling a bit deflated and I didn't feel the reactions to them were genuine enough. I did, however, enjoy reading Isabel's character. I wanted to stay in her POV the most and I loved that she turned out to be a character you weren't expecting with a great inner strength and resolve. I loved her friendship with Rory and she's definitely what made this book more enjoyable. Overall, I can't say I recommend this. If you're looking for a light, summery contemporary read there are others I would suggest instead.
