A chipper novel about a transition period after the poet-narrator’s husband leaves her for a younger woman. The frame of a summer visiting her elderly mother and her pals works well, providing Hustvedt with the freedom to allow her narrator to converse, connect, philosophize, and try to come to terms. This was the most successful of the four novels I read on my recent vacation. I look forward to reading Hustvedt again. I am inclined to give it 4,5 stars. The book is so mature and deep in what concerns relationships and lessons learned about life. I think the tone is also good and the speed is adequate. I recommend it to people who like a bit of philosophy and poetry in the books they read. I certainly enjoyed the quotes, the parallels between authors and philosophers' beliefs, all brought into the present, into a life that seemed to crumble.
Do You like book Sommaren Utan Män (2012)?
Glorified chick lit. Why do people take this woman seriously? Married to Paul Auster?

I read it translated into Spanish and I didn't enjoy it much
