About book Something Fierce: Memoirs Of A Revolutionary Daughter (2011)

This was a stunning description of a the life of a girl living activism from the moment she was born. Aguirre's description of the price she paid for that life and the price paid by those around her fighting for liberation is grueling. I was emotionally spent by the end of the book, but didn't 'lose it' until I read the 'thank you's' at the end of the book. Suddenly, all the characters became real people who exist or existed, not just made up players for this tale of sacrifice and pain. Also a fantastic introduction to the politics of South America, which I had very little understanding of, before this read. This was a good book , a memoir of a daughter of two left-wing revolutionaries during the 80s. It's mostly set in South American right-wing dictatorships and is a bit scary. It will probably cure you of any romanic illusions of the life of real revolutionaries who are enemies of the state, rather than social revolutionaries who usually only face social opposition, however unpleasant. It does help give perspective about the lives of those who live under much more repressive governments than those of the Canada, Europe, the US, etc.

Do You like book Something Fierce: Memoirs Of A Revolutionary Daughter (2011)?

Good prospective, although repetitive, from someone who lived the life of a revolutionary.
