About book Sock It To Me, Santa! (2012)

This is so adorable and nicely written, it had the perfect mixture of reality and how much it reach it really sucks and a believable happy ending. It deals with Ryan who is gay, but keeps it under wraps since he's seen what being openly gay in high school is like. Jamie, the previously mentioned openly gay boy, does not let anyone's view on him bring him down. He's a lot braver than Ryan since he puts up with all the negative attention he receives from everyone for being gay instead of trying to blend in with the crowd and allow people's criticisms get to him like what Ryan does. When the advisory teacher makes the whole class do a Secret Santa, Ryan ends up drawing Jamie. He now has to make three gifts for Jamie without letting anybody know that it's from him since if everybody, especially his seat-mate, finds out, his social life would be over. Still, he wants to make the gifts meaningful and make Jamie happy about them, so he starts attending his mom's weekly craft gatherings to make something for Jamie. This book goes from Ryan not wanting to associate himself with Jamie (because, as he states in the book, it'll be social suicide for him to do so) and barely noticing him to Ryan and Jamie being more than close friends (and hopefully, boyfriends after this)Ryan's family is also a very nice change. His mom is very supportive and his little sister is all for JamiexRyan. The story about Ryan's first gift is connected to his father and it really shows how meaningful his gift is. I was hoping he would tell Jamie the story, but it ended before he could. The only bad thing I have to say about this book is the fact that its too short. It ended with a HEA, but. I wanted to know more about Jamie and Ryan. I wanted to read more about their blossoming relationship and how adorable the two are. I kept rereading the ending and some of the adorable interaction scenes between Ryan and Jamie. (Especially the scene where Ryan is at Jamie's house the third time with the Chapstick and also the time Ryan is handing something back to Jamie and his mom and little sister is watching them). All in all, a good read. Best to read during the holidays, but really, you can read it whenever, it'll make you smile during and even hours after reading the book. I definitely recommend it. I adored this Christmas story. It was just so lovely it brought tears to my eyes. I really enjoyed the way Ryan realises that he is attracted to Jamie, and then realises he will have to deal with his fears. I also enjoyed Ryan's mum who was just so understanding and caring. I think every child deserves a mother like that. A beautiful story. I have read some wonderful Christmas m/m this year but this one goes to the top of the list.
