In my opinion this is his best so far. There is something of an international flavour to this story, somewhat of a change to his style so far.The story includes parts that occurred many years earlier and is all the better for it. For those that dislike flashbacks; I'm one of them; never fear, we are talking about useful fill-in information. Also the people you get to like; apart from the main characters of course; don't come off badly. And there's a surprising ending - the last sentence if I remember correctly.. I found this book less exciting than the previous ones in the series. While I enjoyed the return of the main characters I didn't really like the bad guys or the plot as much as usual. It is also quite a long book which is partly why I think I found it less gripping - there was an excess of description relative to action.I shall still read the remainder because I want to know what happened to his wife, so in that sense the series has been well written as I have become attached to the central characters.
Absolutely fantastic book, could not put it down, best roy grace novel so far!!
