4.5 actually but I gave it a five anyways. Feelin generous since it's the holidays. It was a bit overwhelming at first I read this late at night and the world building and all the information that was thrown at the beginning was too much for me... But after some repetition from the story line I got the hang of it eventually...I don't know if I saw the twist that came. I had a feeling there's something but I couldn't fully figure it out.The romance was not as prominent which can be a good thing. Although I do love my romance. But I wasn't quiet sure who I wanted more for her. I really wasn't connecting with Mather and I found Theron a bit to heroic for someone he just met. But I guess he's just that great. I digress. I really didn't know what to expect with this book so I am happily surprised with how it turned out. I honestly felt like I was reading a different book from everyone else. There were so many raves about this one that I bumped it up my TBR pile only to be disappointed. The writing was good, but something about it just didn't work for me. There was a LOT of info dumping, poorly explained magic and kingdoms, a heroine that kept admitting she was being selfish but then continued to act that way, and an odd obsession with her chakram (this word must appear on every other page, no joke). Both love interests were also a little dull. I think except for one scene in Spring towards the end of the book, I was generally just bored and the dream sequences didn't really help this either. Don't think I will be sticking around for the sequel.
