rating : 3.5 starsSo this book is actually a fun and light read. I caught myself actually laughing out loud with some of the scenes. It's quite a refreshing story, mainly because it's from a guy POV, in this case Marshall. And he is funny, smart and have this HUGE crush on his neighbor and classmate. The thing is, she barely knows he exists, and that's weird, because besides living next to each other, they have classes together, and he is quite a popular guy (without being obnoxious, he is actually a pretty cool and nice guy). What made me laugh so much? It was actually all the daydreams about her, and what he calls "Kim Penney Fantasy of the Day #1 ".Now, i only don't rate this book higher, because i didn't found Kim particularly interesting, in many parts she was way to dense, and her personality just didn't click to me. I struggled to find something interesting to read for weeks before I ended up with this book. "Smile for Me" is better than I thought (still not as better as "Saving Face"). The story was simple yet (kind of) interesting. It had a lot of sense of humor in it. However I didn't like the ending of the book though. That might be because it wasn't how the great novel should end ... at least in my opinion (they left many puzzle unsolved). For characters, you'll found to love every one of them ... especially Marshall. He was so cute and dependable (sometimes I felt like he was a gal not a pal). I thought the main reason I kept reading this book was because of him. I liked (and didn't like) Kim but most of the time she was annoying me. Jason and Mandy were so adorable together and they made me laugh a lot.I gave "Smile for Me" 2.5 stars (after the longest time of consideration). So if you liked this type of story, you'd consider before you decide to read it.
