About book Smarty Bones: A Sarah Booth Delaney Mystery (2013)
This is Book number 13 out of 14 in the Sarah Booth Delaney Detective Mystery Series by Carolyn Haines. It takes place in Zinnia, Mississippi. Sarah Booth and her friend Tinkie run the Delaney Detective Agency. Frances Malone an old friend of Sarah Booth's mother, Libby, comes to see her about a woman who has come to town. Dr. Olive Twist is a historian from Camelton College. She has is looking into the Lady in Red and whether or not she is related to the Falcon or Richmond families. Dr. Twist thinks that she may have something to do with the plot to assassinate President Lincoln. Olive upsets the families of the southern well to do by obtaining a court order to dig up the Lady in Red. Next Dr. Twist's assistant, Jimmy Boswell is poisoned by drinking Olive Twist's special coffee beans. Gertrude, he owner of the Gardens B & B, has some shady things up her sleeve. There are many twist and turns and strange events that happen until the very end. A good read. I laughed. I cried. Sarah Booth is a delightful PI with charming and loyal friends. I must have passed over reading this series due to inclusion of a ghost. I decided to ignore the ghost and in my mind changed it into an imaginary friend. The ghost plays a very small part in the book anyway. I am now willing to find the other 12 books in this series and discover how Sarah Booth reached this point in her life. I look forward to reading number 14, too. Lots more romance and adventure in store for Sarah Booth, I'm sure.
