This was a different kind of BDSM story even though I figured out his alter ego at the beginning. The book kept my interest all throughout. I could feel the chemistry between Karina and James, even though how he treated her at times seemed over the top. The ending I was not expecting, even though I figured out his alter ego at the beginning of the book. Having a dom who puts off his gratification to just make things more interesting for her was something that was different. Looking foward to the continuation of the series. This series is what a BDSM trilogy should be. It inspires the reader to try new things. It titilates. It's at times very difficult to read but you just can't stop reading it. I loved it. My only complaint with Ms Tan's works is the titling of her books. There's nothing slow about this surrender. At least physically. The slow surrender is more emotional. I like the "Struck by Lightning" title for the full series, and would have liked that to be the title of the first book. Anyway, that has nothing to do with how wonderful I found the books.
Karina comes off as sweet girl. Very smart and kinda naive. I like her. Good solid character!
