Slaves of Socorro is about a group of young fearless sailors and warriors called Scandians. The join up with a royal defender in the neighbouring country. The country this man is from is called Araluen. Together they must free slaves held in a desert area called Socorro.A character I couldn't relate was the ship captain or skirl as they call them. His name is Hal. This is because he was born to fight and sail. No one is brought up to fight people on a regular basis in the world we live in now. An important relationship in the book is the one between the ships crew and the Araluen member. This is because if the crew didn't like Gilan, the Araluen member the problem could not have been solved. One of the things the book made me think about is how it would be to spend all or most of your adult life on a boat in the middle of the sea. Another thing it made me think about is when there were pirates sailing around because the Scandians encounter some pirates.I loved this book because of the way John Flanagan writes. there is always so much action or suspense, you can just feel it coming. The way the battles, raids and stand offs are staged is wonderful.I would recommend this book to my friends because it is a book filled with action, excitement and the series never stops growing. "Slaves of Socorro", written by well known writer John Flanagan, has once again proved himself not only a well credited writer, but an artist in his work as well. In this new installment of the Brother Band series, we join Hal and the crew relaxing and getting used to their usual lives in the city of Hashallom. Hasshallom, the tales that have been spoken of that great city, the city surrounding a port where all the many ships moor and dock, in the dark blue water. Neat rows of thatched, wooden houses line next to the deep water, and where there is only one large building to be seen, the town hall. Hal, the slender captain of the ship known as the Heron, is an innovative thinker for his time and is not afraid to explain his ideas, despite his smaller build. Then you have the crew, group of normal, rowdy group of boys, one is a giant, another a sly thief, a pair of twins, one small, and Hal’s first mate. There they have become bored of doing the usual patrolling of the coast and escorting trade ships to and fro neighboring cities. Hal and his crew begin hunger for adventure and for a distraction from the usual rituals of their ordinary lifestyles after they have returned from their thrilling adventure chasing Zavac, a merciless pirate, who stole a royal artifact from their vaults. Their hungered prayers are answered when Erak, their Objeral (King), comes ordering that they are under orders to go to Arulean, a powerful ally they have acquired through a treaty a bloody war, Aurlean often pay for protection from any dangers that dare try to attack their mighty borders. Upon their arrival at the foreign coast, they hear word of slavers that have crawled through the dead of night and stole 12 pheasants and mean to sell them to slavery. With good a good heart, Hal and the crew, are accompanied by a mysterious stranger, sail off, to find the Slaves of Socorro.

Another great book in this series. I love that the rangers are getting mixed in now as well.
