This "episode" in Kelly's life is 2 books past the previous book that I read. Timeline wise it has been 18 months or so since her car accident in Dyer Consequences. The biggest change is that the relationship between Kelly and Steve had just begun to go to "next level" and in this book has hit a rough patch....The actual mystery involves another new friend from the knitting shop who is found dead on a nearby trail. Holly met the knitting store family after showing up in Kelly's yard stoned on drugs. Her death appears to be an accidental overdose. Kelly is asked to investigate and eventually discovers the truth. This was given a 3 instead of a 4 because the plot seemed to be more about the relationship between Kelly and Steve. The Steve in this book bears little resemblance to the Steve of the first 5 books. Yet again, Maggie Sefton delves into today's societal issues. This time it's about the illegal purveyance of presciption drugs within the young adult crowd. A troubled party girl appears to be turning her life around until one morning when she's found dead from an apparent overdose of opiates. Kelly, our heroine, promises to get to the bottom of what happened. Meanwhile her own personal life seems to unravel at the proverbial seams. The cliff hanger at the end makes me want to rush out for the next book in the series, "Unraveled".
Enjoyed the book but didn't care for the ending. Hoping they fix it in the next book.
