Holy terror, you guys! This was one intense book. And I mean intense. We meet Maddie Crane and her cousin Cordelia. Maddie is part of the Sisters of Misery, a crazy group of girls who provoke punishment when they see fit. The Sisters of Misery – minus Maddie – instantly hate Cordelia and start rumors about her. It all escalates on Halloween, and in an effort not to give anything away, the thrill continues.The book itself was impeccably written. Hall was able to capture so many of the different personalities and I couldn’t find fault in the writing itself. What I couldn’t wrap my mind around was Maddie and her guilt and how she didn’t do anything to help Cordelia. I realize she was trying to figure out what happened, she didn’t go back to the island after Halloween. I can’t imagine how guilty one would feel after carrying that around for months and months. And Finn, when we meet Finn and when he admits to watching what happened on the island AND NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT! Argh. For me this was almost worse than the actual suspense of the book.I am so looking forward to reading the follow-up, The Lost Sister. I hope Cordelia makes a glorious return! At first glance of the back of this book, you think "great. that's all i need. another book about annoying teenage girls being mean to each other and seeing who gets the best guys." But because of my new system of picking out books (which is grabbing random books off the shelf and buying them) I bought this one. As I started it, my original thoughts of the book didn't change. But as the book crawled on, I was more and more interested. This book has an unsuspecting twist. So, it turned to a mystery. And, surprisingly enough, I loved it. I strongly recommend this book because of the many small mysteries surrounding the main one. The ending was also very surprising. The next book in the series comes out next month and I cannot wait to read it!
