This book is intense. If you are seeking to understand our attack Intelligent Design, you need to deal with this book. For a scientific text, it is surprisingly readable, and his own story integrated into it helps to break it up a bit. This is a well rounded book as well, as it responds to all the popular criticisms of the moment. Definitively pick this up if you're at all interested in it. It is long, at 500 pages (the last hundred are notes/bibliography) so be prepared to put some time into it. This is an exceptional book. It is part memoir, mystery, and polemic. It is a comprehensive look at the history and nature of historical sciences in general and the origin of life in particular. Dr. Meyer's description of how historical sciences work is invaluable to the contemporary discussion of science and neo-Darwinism.It also contains several chapters that directly address the most common objections to intelligent design. It is well worth the time, it is a long and enjoyable read.
