About book Sierra (2012)

Talk about a traumatic read! This book reads like the worst nightmare imaginable. Until prayers are answered in the form of a reclusive mountain man. This book while traumatic, was hard to put to put down. Did I put it down? No, I read until 3am. Loved that the proper epilogue was included, I don't think I would have awarded 5 stars if it hadn't been. Well done Dean, I recommend this book it's well written and reminded me that we always have to be on the look out and guarded. This is a story of both incredible beauty and happiness and unspeakable horror and tragedy. Both happen several times, with very little ordinary life in-between. Now as a reader of both paranormal and time-travel novels, perhaps it is stretching things to say that this story is not credible. Nonetheless, that is how I feel. It just doesn't seem possible that all the good people could live through so many injuries and tragedies and all come out whole and undamaged. Add to that, with all that happened, I felt that the book needed a longer ending to work out all the finals kinks. It was as if after all the bad guys were eliminated, the last line seemed to be "and they all lived happily ever after."I'm glad I read the book, because there were some really lovely sections, but there was also too much angst to have me reading this author again.
