Zur gleichen Zeit hat das Monkeewrench-Team Besuch von Agent John Smith vom FBI, der sich mit den zunehmenden Gewaltvideos im Internet beschäftigt. Das Team soll eine Software entwickeln die es ermöglicht, gestellte Morde im Internet von den echten zu unterscheiden. Das FBI ist an mehreren Todesfällen dran, über die es Videos im Internet gibt, die nach den Morden eingestellt werden. Die ungleichen Genies von Monkeewrench erschaffen aber nicht nur die Software sondern finden auch weitere Spuren im Internet die darauf hinweisen, dass die Morde ankündigt worden waren.Hier wird ein sehr aktuelles Thema aufgegriffen: Das Internet und die Sensationsfreude der Menschen und die zunehmende Kriminalität im Internet und die Anonymität die es den Tätern bietet.Davon abgesehen war es wie immer herrlich, wieder bei den alten Bekannten Grace, Annie, Roadrunner und Harley von Monkeewrench und den beiden Detectives Leo und Gino zu Besuch zu sein. Das Autoren-Duo hat wieder einen wundervollen und spannenden Plot mit liebenswerten Charakteren geschaffen und es machte viel Spaß hier wieder zu ermitteln. Die Dialoge waren klasse und die Handlung flüssig und schlüssig. Ich hoffe, dass es auch noch einen 6. Band geben wird.Reihenfolge-Infos:1) Spiel unter Freunden2) Der Köder3) Mortifer4) Memento5) Sieh mir beim Sterben zu I have read and really enjoyed the first couple of books in this series which was why I found this one so frustrating and disappointing.What starts off as an interesting premise that seems perfect for the work of Grace and the Monkeewrench team soon becomes a slightly dull story set in police offices and computer rooms. The idea of murders being filmed and shown online is topical and we are thrown into the action at the very beginning. As the book progresses though it seems to me that the author (or team of authors) became more interested in their characters than solving the crime.And that is understandable to a degree as the characters in this book are very interesting. Gino and Magozzi make for a great team, Agent John Smith grows throughout the book and the Monkeewrench team are oddball and unique - although Grace is relegated to minor character in this and doesn't ever have the same verve as previous novels.What was most frustrating was the teasing of the murders becoming something much bigger but with too many red herrings (chapters dedicated to the waitress killer and the box droppers) and everything wrapped up within the space of two final chapters. I felt particularly cheated when Harley presents a list of killers to the FBI agent after a night's work on the computer! Play To Kill felt like it had a lot of potential but that somewhere along the line the story got lost and that maybe there never was a really strong plot in the first place.
