actual rating: 3.5 starsWhen I bought the book I expected it to be special. Spanish always adds a lot of feeling to the book, making it more magical (as it happened for me with Carlos Ruiz Zafon's books). The writing mesmerized me in the beginning but left me rather underwhelmed as it all drew to a close.My first issue: I was promised a story about a break-up and a child that needs to be found. Espinosa managed to stuff that content into a few dozen pages and filled the others with something that I neither expected nor needed. It was a totally different book then what I thought it was. Not a bad book, that is. I just waited for the fun to start and it didn't until there were basically no pages left.My second issue: The whole plot was rather inexistent. The story consists of flashbacks and "I promised to give you what you bought this book for, just hold on for a bit longer". If you need to say that, you know something's wrong. I mean - apologizing to the reader about what you're writing, really? My third issue: The protagonist gets more and more teary, the story more and more unrealistic and the actions more and more implausible towards the end. And here are the reasons why I give this book 3.5 stars: I like the actual end. It was peaceful, a bit unexpected, the magic was back. Another thing I appreciated were the titles Espinosa gave to the chapters. You could already try and guess in which sense they would appear and he almost always chose strong sentences.Espinosa thought about his characters and he was creative. It doesn't mean I bought the cast and setting as a whole but I appreciated the approach. Compared to german or austrian books, this was so much more fun to read (At least Austrians seem incapable of writing happy books. Interesting and reflective yes, happy no).I conclude that "Si tu me dices ven lo dejo todo... pero dime ven" is not a bad book, it's just labelled wrongly. If Espinosa had actually been honest about the content and deleted at least a few dozen of the innumerable dots he used, I would not have been disappointed after reading - I probably would have been all like "yaaay, read this book, it's so magical in a spanish way!!". Next time, Espinosa. Había leído críticas bastantes extremistas respecto a este libro, algunos lo amaban y otros lo odiaban, personalmente encajo en la posición de lo primero.Simplemente esta historia me encantó y eso que la historia no es la gran cosa, pero si la forma que tiene de escribir el señor Espinosa, es muy cercana y sencilla y por eso el libro se lee demasiado rápido (a parte del hecho de que es pequeño). El señor Martín y George se me hicieron personajes increíbles y entrañables, al igual que Dani (el protagonista). Si bien el libro se alimenta en más de la mitad de sus hojas en base a recuerdos y no en lo que "mueve" a la historia como tal en el presente, siento que era necesario volver al pasado y ver a un "pequeño" Dani para conocer a nuestro amigo Dani el "grande" y en como dos hombres mucho mayores que él se volvieron tan importantes a pesar de haberlos conocido por tan poco tiempo (sus amarillos :3).En fin, el libro me encantó y está repleto de frases que me llegaron mucho. Sin dudas seguiré leyendo más de Albert.

The reasons that lead me to read Espinosa's books have always been the titles. And so far they have lived up to expectations. From a seemingly simple writing are born this seemingly simple but fantastic (in both its aception) stories. However, there is nothing simple in the writing. Utter magic is unearthed by the author's capacity to write very effective pieces of text, using just about the right amount of words in short length of a sentence or paragraph. More than caring to tell a story, Espinosa tries to lay out principles to live. And does so by including the reader along the way: this is storytelling that is aimed at you all the way through, since you are constantly called upon to pay attention to the tiniest detail or to excuse the author from not following the chronological order of events. No worries. Espinosa does deliver and it all makes perfect sense in the end. Maybe the only thing is that there are a few sentences that could have been left out. That would have made it perfect for me.

Lindo libro, la narración es perfecta..tiene razón el autor al decir que en nuestra vida los diamantes son raros de encontrar y hay diamantes a los que con nuestra vida los pulimos, esos diamantes te recuerdan que algo tan sencillo como querer es siempre más valioso que te quieran, los amores se gastan y puede que no soporten; parece que ese diamante fue hecho únicamente para ti y que brilla entonces cuando se encuentra con tu energía, todos somos energías de una u otra manera. Busqué y creo, me he encontrado con uno o dos diamantes, buscaré entonces el diamante que sigue.
