Seven is the thickest girl in her crew, and even her mother and cousin endearingly call her "Fat Mama". Seven lives with her mother, little brother, cousin, and wild child twin sister, Toi. Toi is constantly getting into trouble for staying out late with her much older boyfriend. Seven is looking for a guy to like her for more than the fact that she is "repping for the big girls". Seven has been crushing on her friend Deeyah's boyfriend since before he was Deeyah's boyfriend, and now that Deeyah is playing him with his enemy, all bets are off. Shortie Like Mine is an honest portrayal of High School life. The beginning was a little slow, as the story went on, you realize there is more to the story than Seven's love life, which definitely makes it more interesting. Not sure if I would say it's a must read, but it wasn't bad either. The book"Shortie Like Mine"by NinI Simone is interesting because any teenager can relate.This book basically goes into heartbreak and love things teens go through in relationships.Even middle schoolers can relate to this story because the twins parent go through an divorce. I think others should read this book because some situations are relatable.The author wrote from her experience from being a teenager.The book discuses how true friendships are.The book talks about how to deal with drug abuse with in families. I chose this book because I love fast pace African America novels.I can also relate to the twins and seven.Their friends and family reminds me of my own.I say this because usually when something bad happen they always go there and go through it with them. There are many problems in the book.seven has a star basket ball player as a boyfriend,but as well she thing she have a weight problem.Seven's twin sister Toi is pregnant by a drug dealer.Not mention seven other bestfriend mother is a crack addict on the streets. Those problems are solved when Seven could finally be happy I'm her skin and accept her as she is.Her boyfriend also doesn't mind mind and loves her. Toi's family and friends help her get through her young pregnancy.Her bestfriend mother also goes to rehab in attempts to stay off drugs. I know this book is a good book because,it is about young people,families,and relationships.I reccomend reading this book because most can relate to these situation and problems
