To me the book was too fast paced and the characters had no depth really. I never felt like Maggie Mae was a foster child or that Bridger even had a personality besides jerk. Bridger was also too controlling, rude and overall a douche of a human being. I hated how attached and desperate M.M. was and it made me think of Twilight (and I really dislike Twilight) and how desperate and needy Bella was. I loved the concept behind "Shifting" - orphaned teenage girl and shape shifter trying to be normal. I was pleasantly surprised to find I also loved the execution of the plot. Wiggins wove her story well, with seemingly the right amount of genuine surprises and those moments of "that's what I suspected!" Maggie Mae is a multidimensional, sympathetic and believable character, and I found myself genuinely caring about what happened to her over the course of the book. The supporting cast was also amazing, particularly characteres like Yana and Naalyehe. I'm definitely a fan of this book and will absolutely be looking for more by Wiggins (maybe even a sequel, perhaps?)
