Shattered & Scarred is the first book in The Sacred Hearts MC Series by A.J. Downey. I enjoy reading books that have me thinking about the characters long after I’m finished reading the book. Shattered & Scarred definitely hit that mark! I honestly can’t quit thinking about the characters! I devoured this book and loved every page of it. It is very well written, great character development, full of emotions that you can feel pouring off the pages, and has some very sexy mc brothers!Shattered & Scarred is the story of Ashton Granger and Ethan “Trigger” Howard. Ashton has to maintain the image of the prefect wife in order to please her husband. One imperfection lands her on the side of the highway at night. Trigger served in the Marines as a sniper and has seen and done things that scarred him deep. One night while on a run for club business, he finds an injured woman on the side of a highway. He can’t just leave her there so he brings Ashton back to the clubhouse and is intent on nursing her back to health. What he doesn’t expect is for this broken woman to soothe his wounded soul. However, Ashton’s husband isn’t ready to let her go just yet. Is Trigger able to keep Ashton safe? Are Trigger and Ashton too wounded to be what the other one needs?Read Shattered & Scarred and follow the first book in this journey of brotherhood, ever present danger, and women who might just bring grown men to their knees.I give this book 5 stars and most definitely recommend! It took me approximately 6 hrs to read this book...I was intrigued from the prologue and can't wait for September to get here. The characters were created in such a way to allow my imagination to take flight, and honestly speaking who doesn't want that? Speaking from someone who was in a horrible situation not to unlike Ashton's learning to want and need for yourself, and to truly desire new experiences both sexually and otherwise is a real thing. It uplifting and liberating to feel wanted and loved enough to be able to do so. I highly recommend this book and if Shattered & Scarred is the first in the line of this type...I'M ALL IN FOR THE REST!!
