Ok, So I started this book and could not put it down. Really. I read it in one day. Why was it so good? Well besides the fact that the dialogue was making my laugh so hard that someone asked if I was ok, the characters are one of a kind. You wont read another book and find them. They are real. At least to me. So what is this story about?? Well, it is about Drea, a 16 year old girl with ADHD and "a touch of Asperger's." She really loves music, and when she and her mom has to stay with their grandma for a while, she meets Naomi. Naomi and Justin. This is were the story becomes more than one story. I feel like it is about all 3 of them. It is their story. Drea has to learn how to trust others and in the process creates something that is beautiful. Friendships that will last forever.This book is really worth reading. cause as Naomi and Justin say to Drea, she is real. Not bogged down in "smile when I am not happy" and "laugh when jokes are not funny." Drea says what she thinks and sometimes that gets her in trouble. But Most times it is funny. Harmonic Feedback is an amazing book and I wont ever forget it. I enjoyed this book on many levels: The writing is fluid and easy to get lost in. The narration put me into the mind of a student with mild Asperger's Syndrome. The themes were meaningful and for the most part positive and healthy. However, I do wonder if it is a little too perfect. If I recommended this to a teenager with Asperger's, would he/she even be able to relate to a gorgeous teenage girl who has a gorgeous guy totally into her, and everything works out well for them. I suppose that is how most teenage love stories work, though, and teens eat them up. Maybe I should just avoid philosophizing on love stories.
