I have loved all of Denise Hunter’s books so far. My favorites have been Driftwood Lane, the Convenient Groom, and Surrender Bay. So when I was at an used bookstore in my hometown trying to find a new book to read and came across this Denise Hunter book, I knew I had to give it a try.Seaside Letters had a great story line that really enticed me. It kind of reminded me of the movie, You've Got Mail, which is one of my all time favorites. I read this book in two days so that should tell you something. However, it is still not my favorite Denise Hunter book. The main reason why I gave Seaside Letters a 4 star review and not a 5 is because I didn’t really feel like I had a complete understanding of the characters by the end of the novel. I did not feel like they were fully developed. I wanted to know more about Sabrina and Tucker's past. Also I felt like the end of the novel left a few issues unresolved. For instance, what happens with Tucker and his sister? Are they okay after she finds out who Tucker is in love with? And does Tucker’s sister forgive Sabrina? Overall, I still thought this was a great read and one that I would recommend to my friends. Seaside Letters and Driftwood Lane are my two favorite stories in the Nantucket Series by Denise Hunter. Sabrina carries so much guilt and shame, hiding behind aloofness and running away from her problems to keep herself from being hurt. She even comes to believe she is unworthy of God's love. The guilt and shame only grows heavier as she keeps up a secret online chat relationship with a man she knows in person. Tucker knows Sabrina is his online chat friend and wants to draw her out and get to know her in person, but her aloofness and side-stepping keep him at bay. From her chat letters, he knows she was betrayed by her cousin and fiance, but he doesn't know why she won't let go of the hurt and move on into a healthier relationship with him. But Sabrina holds a secret that affects Tucker's sister and she fears the truth will destroy their online relationship. When Tucker's sister shows up and catches a glimpse of Sabrina the painful truth comes out. Will it destroy her online relationship with Tucker or does God have a greater plan? Read the book for the answer!
