Entertaining to be sure but nu-thing like Sense and Sensibility; Elinor and Marianne these characters are not. It was set in Texas so it got some points from me there but these sisters are just plain rotten to each other. They misconstrue everything the other says, EVERYTHING. I found myself doing some serious eye rolls to the pages. Gabby (Elinor) is a downright cold, bitter man-hater while Daphne (Marianne) is babyish, self-absorbed, and completely boy crazy. I did say it was entertaining, which it was and I did enjoy the ending. The sisters of course make up and find happiness (at least High School happiness) and discover that they do both need to do some changing of their ways. Basically, glad I read it but glad I can turn it back in! 'Love was just a flash flame. It burned bright and then disappeared. Unless people stayed strong and commited, they left, too. Most people, it seemed, went away.'This line in a way says a lot about how Gaby feels about love and being loved. Her sister at the other end seems to live inside of a fairytale and even forgets that your grades for a math test do matter. But then prom night matters still a bit more, especially when the new guy seems to be interested in you. And have we already mentioned faithful Mule and mysterious Prentiss. Being yourself a sisters you might know many of the feelings and thaughts described in this one.
