One of the more enjoyable novels I've read in a while. Great blend of espionage, sci-fi, & thriller conventions, along with a clever premise that keeps you guessing how it will end up. I particularly liked the unusually deep characterizations - Mullen spends a lot more time with his characters' internal struggles, and the book is better for it.You'll think you know where the book is headed, and Mullen avoids taking the obvious paths on a number of occasions. He leaves several threads unresolved - which I think was deliberate (won't give anything away, it just fits with where he ultimately resolves the main conflict).Really liked this. Eager to read more of Mullen's books. you know what, it's fine? the story is interesting--i'll pretty much read anything about time travel and how to get some of it--and while the non-zed and sari plot lines are slow to start, i was intrigued by where the structure of the novel begins and ends up. but guys...the writing. it's...awkward. i would actually argue that the zed chapters are by far the best written ones because i think mullen's style is best suited for the personality and character established with zed. and i'll give mullen this, a lot of men can't write women's voices at all and i found both tasha and sari to be believable and nuanced. it's just that in general, mullen's prose is filled with cliches and for large portions of it, cannot transcend from telling us things that we need to know about the story to smooth and beautiful storytelling. which isn't terrible in and of itself: the plot is good and the characters (with the exception of leo: the parallels between him and zed were drawn too neatly for my taste BECAUSE WE GET IT DUDE, THEY ARE BOTH HAVING TROUBLE DECIDING WHEN TO DO THEIR JOBS AND WHEN TO BE GOOD PEOPLE, CHRIST) are interesting. the writing is strictly functional but guess what? TIME TRAVEL.
Do You like book Saptırıcılar (2014)?
