The others I might have characterized a 4.5 or so, but this is a solid 4 or 3.75. I know, so low. While the art and the characters and complexity haven't disappointed, the story has slowed down. Also, in the interest of adding romantic relationships, the novel (or at least this volume) feels like it's treating love as a flippant thing. Two characters now have lost their S.O., and already they're "moving on". It's not like they aren't grieving for their dead loved ones, but it feels like they're moving on really quickly for characters who claimed to love those people. Like, within a few days in the story. I don't know why, but it feels like the author has killed off those characters and is changing the integrity or motives of these characters just to add more love interests. It feels like selling out, and in the worst way possible. It feels cheap. It feels unrealistic. I'm not a fan. However, I am still interested in the plot and will read the next volume when it comes out. I hope the story finds it's way again, because I would hate for it to lose its steam. This is the graphic novel that has pushed people including myself into comic book reading of this decade. There is not one comic book fan that I have met who hasn't enjoyed or heard something about this series. It is a space opera, Star Wars meets Game of Thrones. Centered around a girl named Hazel and her family who is trying to protect her from the raging war of the galaxy between her parents species. I won't say anymore, because you need to go pick this book up now! Go now!
