I liked this book because it was a true story about a woman who had to face many obstacles. Her horse, Georgia helped her overcome many of her challenges. Some of the challenges included an abusive and controlling husband, along with the fact that both of them were extreme alcoholics. She had to flee away from her husband to a whole new town, leaving her horse behind to suffer with her him. Once she fled her husband took all their money, leaving her with nothing. She got addicted to alcohol when she was younger and never get control over this problem until now. When her horse Georgia challenged her to become a better owner and person when she has to take care of her. She moved away finding a new home for her new horse in a garage in Olivebridge. Getting away from the alcohol she went to many AAA meetings against her will. Until later realizing these meetings helped her mentally, physically, and emotionally get over this serious problem.After reading this book, I realized all of the challenges people have to face in their lives. Whether if it’s brought upon them by themselves or others they still have to get over it. I also took this book as motivation to show even if you have rough times in your life, you can always get over them with God. Susan Richards is such a talented writer, that I would be willing to read any book that she writes. Reading about her past, and the things that she went through, it just amazes me. So many of us see the family with a lot of money and think, Their life must be perfect, but hearing her story really makes you wonder how true that is. This book certainly made me feel greatful to have grown up in my middle class family. Knowing that I was a loved and cherished member of the family.
