I really enjoy the subject matter and the time period, and I am thrilled that the narrative includes Sir Thomas Wyatt (I am a huge fan). In the end, I feel a bit like the Knights of the Round Table, though, which I believe the author intends. I must own that I do not like Rebecca. She is too pushy for one in her sixteenth century social status, making her character a bit unbelievable. Overall, it is an excellent plot. I would say that I am about fifty/fifty on historical fiction but I loved this work. "Sacred Treason" by James Forrester was a fast read mainly becasue I was so engaged. As the first book in the Trilogy it is definitely stand alone and does not need the second or third book to be enjoyed. Of course at the end there are questions that I am sure lead to the second book but would definitely not leave a reader wanting if this was a single novel. Another thing I loved is just learning more about the Tudor period in England. Forrestor does a good job of mixing facts with fiction. There is an afterword at the end that lets the reader know what truths are in the novel. Great read would definitely recommend.
Read is not quite right. I just couldn't get into it. The torture scene did me in.
