I enjoyed "Persona Non Grata", although, like the second book in the series, it's not as good as the great first book.Ruso and Tilla continue to have misadventures, and I appreciated the change of scenery by going to visit Ruso's family in Gaul. The family was quite entertaining and added new dimensions.The mystery plot seemed a bit thin, but I still enjoy the prose, with its dashes of humor and action without overdoing it.I understand Ruso was under a lot of stress, but I didn't like him as much in this book. Too short-tempered and grumpy. Another good entry in the Medicus series. In this one Ruso and Tilla travel back to Gaul after he receives an urgent message from his brother Lucius to return home immediately. Upon arriving they find the family very surprised to see them and the family fortune in grave danger. It seems their father's debts and their step-mothers spending are more than Lucius' income from his winery can pay for and they are about to be called into court by the local representative of the Senate. Then, things take a turn for disaster when that representative dies of poisoning in Ruso's study while discussing a settlement for their debts.While the mystery wasn't all that difficult to figure out, I still enjoyed the relationship between Ruso and Tilla. Will look for the next in this series.
