I've read exit here and the mission so I had an idea of what kind of characters and situations to expect, but run the game was a little much.for starters, I do not really understand how this is a novel intended for "young adults"; curse words are overused and the language is vulgar. as most ya novels are directed toward 13-18 year olds, there is no way I would let my child read a book of this caliber until they are 17+, 16 if I'm feeling generous. I understand that there are people, children, whose lives may be similar to the situations and lifestyles of the characters portrayed in this novel, and that kids are growing up at a quicker pace now, but I still don't think this novel is suitable for everyone in the ya age range. especially when it comes to the sexual content.also, maybe because it's been a few years since I've read anything by jason myers but even the way this book was written was hard to read but I guess this style of "anyone could write this" should have been expected. that being said the characters threw me in for a loop. shocked that a 14 year old is in her predicament, but also at how good she is at running the game. I'm partially disappointed in myself and my desire for a happy ending, when again, I probably should have seen it coming. THAT ENDING!! how good patti is at manipulating her words and regaining her composure. the hint of her intent stare on lars near the end is what kind of gave away whose side she was really on, when it was not her own, but Alexander... I didn't expect that kind of ending for him. the kind of "no way" "what the hell" ending that I had to reread twice and still want to reread is why I'm giving this book 3 instead of 2 stars.sidenote: anyone have any idea why jason included himself in the novel? was it purely narcassistic or...? when I got the book I just read the back and though it was gonna be a lovey dovey cute romantic book. I was sooo wrong it was beyond what the description said the description said nothing about 20 cuss words per page. It didn't say it was about prostitution hookers sex drugs blow jobs or anything the book was about. And why is alex so dumb? He always goes into a very description of every person like no one cares. Alex mad me so mad I wanted to stop reading the book I should have. If there was less cuss words and a more deep description on the book I would have liked it a bit more. The book made me so aggravated. Just thinking about it makes me want to scream. Then again this is just my opinion and none of it really matters.
