She did it again, loves! If you read my preview reviews on Jus Accardo's writing you probably alreadybfigure out I fangirl BIg time over her. I love anything she writes and Rules of Survival is no exception. Rules of Survival is the perfect combination of suspense, action, witty comments and raw feelings. Makayla Morgan has been on the run for a year now after beign acused of murdering her own mother, but in truth, she's beign running her whole life. All she's used to it is to blend in, to never trust anyone and to use her brain to get her out of difficult times. But Kayla had to go back to the place her mom died to try to figure out what and who she's running from. And that's where we first find her.Patrick Tanner is a bounty hunter. He's been after the Morgan girl all his life and this time he has a little help to capture Kayla. Meet Shaun Denver. Hot, smart, witty, tattoed (we all love some inked guys) and absolutely infuriating. Where Kayla is the kind of person who needs a plan to feel secure and know where she's going, Shaun is the type who jumps into the situations and goes with it. Kayla is the brains, she's not a fighter AT ALL but she can deliver some serious BS to get her out of trouble. Shaun on the hand will use those pretty muscles without a second thought. What I loved most about this book is how Jus managed to keep the suspence, giving us little pieces of information at sthe time to keep the story going but still being able to surprise you with the final outcome. The characters feel real. Both have past that haunts them in their own way and things they aren't ready to face. Jus managed to make them Bad-Ass and vulnerable at the same time. And of course the fact that (like any of her books) Jus just throws you into the story in the first page. It manges to capture and hold you in until the last page and then, it leaves you wanting more. She presents the story in a easy short way and continues with an opening act full of action and just goes from there. Rules of Survival is an intense read you don't wanna miss! Original review can be found at Sizzling Hot YA BooksJust when I didn’t think it was possible, I’ve gone and fallen in love with Jus Accardo’s books even more. As a big fan of her young adult Denazan series, I instantly knew I wanted to read Rules of Survival. Like I knew she would, Jus nailed this story to a T and, in short, Rules of Survival was perfection.Well, at least to me. :)This is Kaya’s story. A girl on the run since she was a child. Her mother wasn’t a good person–did really bad things. And, in turn was murdered, leaving Kayla as the prime suspect. Wanted by bounty hunters and cops around the country, Kayla does what she can to make it through life without being caught. But there comes a point in time where a person tires of fighting against their past, and for Kayla, that time has come. In turn, she goes back to the scene of her mother’s murder, determined to try and figure out who killed her so that she can figure out where to go next.Unfortunately, she’s caught up in gunfire and somehow handcuffed to a sexy bounty hunter in training named Shaun. But things get complicated when the key is lost, and the attraction between Kayla and Shaun intensifies. Now they’re forced to work together to fight the bad people chasing after them, while trying to keep their hands off one another.Oh. Holy. Chemistry. From the very beginning, Kayla and Shaun’s attraction was scorching hot. Their bantering and verbal sparring was exactly what I like to read when I pick up a book. Kayla’s character was brave and kick butt for sure, but when it came to the opposite sex, she kind of had no clue how to react. And I admired that about her. Shaun was the epitome of my perfect book boyfriend. Sweet, charming, a little bit bad, and whole parts good. I loved that he wanted to be there for Kayla, but let her handle herself most of the time. Together, this pair meshed well and brought the story to life with every flip of the page.Overall, if you’re looking for something a little bit different when it comes to new adult books, then this is the perfect book for you. Action, sexy times, and heart stopping romance, Rules of Survival had it all. I appreciated the fact that this wasn’t the standard go about college novel. I appreciated it even more that it wasn’t overly angsty either. I loved how Jus writes too, so this was definitely a win-win all around for me. My only complaint? It had to end. Great Job Jus. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us eagerly anxious readers next.
