I listened to the audio book. The premise was interesting but the writing had TOO MANY SIMILES!!!! Also in one scene when he went running on the beach with Rick, his ankle was fine, even though just days before he was limping? I liked Rick's character. I wasn't sure why Micah couldn't have run a successful company "for the right reasons" but understand the concept of surrender. I don't understand how this compares at all to the Shack. Micah is a very successful young man, but is spiritually disconnected, and slowly becomes aware that there may be a different and better way to live his life. Micah becomes the owner of a beautiful, one-of-a-kind house, and learns various life and spiritual lessons in each of the special rooms. Throughout this book, there was a tug-of-war between good and evil to get Micah to make certain choices which would send him down incredibly different paths. This was a spiritual journey that involved second chances and forgiveness. Through letters from his dead uncle, Micah received guidance and encouragement to complete his journey. As Micah made various life decisions, the realities in his life changed, often dramatically. The interactions and conversations with spiritual beings were powerful and packed an emotional punch. Beautiful, descriptive writing was thought provoking and gripping at times. A rewarding romance was woven into the main storyline. A satisfying and enjoyable read...I loved it!
