I liked the story. Just the right amount of sweet with the right amount of angst. I figure it's the third person format that's got me not in love with this story. I can't say why it s I didn't mesh with this one. A nurse saving a drowning surfer while she goes for a run on the beach one morning. Kate meets a former rocker and now lawyer, Alec Sawyer, during the rescue. Because of his fame, the media storm following is huge. It's what brings them together. With so many little twists and pieces to the characters' lives getting involved, their relationship is one rocky road.I wish I liked it more. A little bummed... I prefer historical romances, and have easily read thousands of them. Occasionally, however, I pick up a contemporary just to break things up, and I have to tell you I was really impressed with this book. In fact, I read it in a few hours. The characters pulled you right in. They were complex, with well-developed back stories to flesh out their personalities. The pacing was great, and their relationship changed and grew in a convincing way. The passion between them was HOT, and really well done, and the story's conclusion was really satisfying. I think that Ms. Cross has a great future in this genre, and I'm looking forward to more of her work. A great summer or anytime read!
