Qué tristeza y desesperanza transmite este libro... Creo que estoy a punto de ponerme a gritar. Por las cosas perdidas. Por tu sonrisa, Mary. Perdóname si echo la cabeza hacia atrás y me pongo a gritar por la sonrisa que ya nunca aparece en tu rostro. ¿De acuerdo?King con este relato nos enseña que tenemos que vivir con todo nuestro corazón, que estemos más relajados ante las cosas malas que nos pasen, que no perdamos tiempo con preocupaciones que solo sirven para atormentarnos, que seamos felices, ya que en unos años estaremos muertos y nadie nos recordará. No importa lo que hagas, al final permaneceremos solamente en el olvido. Para demostrarlo King creó a Barton Dawes, una persona a la que el destino le ha dado duros golpes; una persona desdichada, desolada y desesperanzada, y a la que ahora la expansión de una carretera le quiere quitar lo poco que conserva. Barton, esta vez, va a luchar por lo que es suyo y así poder morir sin ceder a las injusticias de la vida. Como ya dije, es una novela muy triste, que por mi parte puedo decir que me rasguñó el alma. Hacerte viejo es como conducir el coche a través de una capa de nieve que cada vez se hace más y más espesa. A partir de determinado momento uno no hace otra cosa que girar y girar las ruedas, que no cesan de patinar. Eso es la vida. Ningún tractor vendrá a sacarte del atasco. Tu barco no llegará para salvarte, muchacha. Y no hay botes salvavidas para nadie. Nunca ganarás una disputa. Ninguna cámara seguirá tus pasos y no habrá nadie contemplando tu lucha. Todo es así.El principio es muy lento y hasta confuso. Pensé que iba a sufrir mucho con esta historia, pero a partir de la segunda parte todo se esclarece y se vuelve mucho más intenso. En fin, una novela lóbrega, melancólica,de un personaje que se arrepiente de las decisiones que tomó cuando era más joven y el tiempo no le era tan cruel.Aprovechá el tiempo que tenés, no lo malgastes en cosas que te hacen mal. No luches contra el sistema, no luches contra la vida ni el destino. Dejate llevar, se libre, disfrutá; se feliz.
Non tutte le ciambelle riescono con il buco, di conseguenza, non sempre i libri di Stephen King riescono bene. Il fatto che USCITA PER L'INFERNO abbia ottenuto grande successo per le innumerevoli vendite è da attribuirsi al nome dell'autore, riconosciuto anche sotto lo pseudonimo di Richard Bachman.Al centro della storia, c'è George Dawes, un uomo che ha perso l’unico figlio, Charles Fred, in tenera età per un tumore cerebrale. Con la moglie Mary ha tentato di tornare ad una vita normale, ma, quando sembra aver raggiunto il suo obiettivo, riceve il colpo che lo porta alla deriva, facendolo uscire di senno. A causa di un inutile prolungamento dell’autostrada 784, George deve perdere la sua casa e l’impiego, dato che la lavanderia in cui lavora verrà rasa al suolo. È questo l'inizio di una spirale che lo porta sempre più in basso, fino a perdere la moglie, sviluppare la doppia personalità di Fred, ricavandola dal secondo nome del figlio defunto, e barricarsi in casa con dell’esplosivo. Forse anche questo piccolo dettaglio lo ha smascherato e reso riconoscibile, nonostante lo pseudonimo che aveva scelto per mettersi alla prova, quando nel 1981 pubblicò questo romanzo. Certo è che compì un passo falso che rivelò la sua identità oppure la cosa era volta per aggiungere successo e gossip alla fama che già possedeva. Comunque, sicuramente ha saputo far parlare di sé e questo romanzo, come gli altri pubblicati con lo stesso pseudonimo, hanno ottenuto milioni di ristampe.Certo è che in USCITA PER L'INFERNO manca quel tocco di soprannaturale che gli è proprio, ma sono presenti altri elementi narrativi e stilistici che lo contraddistinguono. Nonostante tutto questo romanzo non sempre si legge con piacere e, per alcuni capitoli risulta anche notevolmente noioso e privo di ritmo. Non è sicuramente da includersi nella rosa dei migliori di Stephen King.
Do You like book Roadwork (1999)?
Roadwork feels more like King than Bachman, especially when you compare it to the rest of the novels that comprised that hefty Bachman Books compendium (all of King's signature writerly tics are on display, here). I remember skimming this one the last time I read these, and I'm glad I didn't this time. I caught a lot of what feel like referential moments to his other work. Heather and I agree that if Phil Drake isn't Callahan walking the Todash Highway, then he's his twinner, for suresies. George/Bart singing Careless Love in the bank put me into a Susan Delgado hate spiral, and I almost threw the book across the room, but I'm glad I finished. Only one thing that bothers me, and that's a feeling I get from time to time that I'm a character in some bad writer's book and he's already decided how things are going to turn out and why. It's easier to see things that way, even, than to blame it on God - what did He ever do for me, one way or the other? No, it's this bad writer, it's his fault.crackle-crackle-boom-boom

one of the stories from king where he has some italians helping out the protagonist...like in thinner? both early stories.there's some nice touches in this story about george, a man whose house stands in the way...1973 winter and gas prices have been on the rise, that sort of thing, the big gas crunch. the touches...the way that inner voice of the lead (and others, too) character speaks to the main...but why are you doing this?other things...a few lines from mick...oooh, children--it's just a kiss away, kiss away, kiss away...wally said, blinking wisely which is a line from the story, heh! complete w/adverb...king has used other tools to advance the story...like the months of the year in cycle of the werewolf or lyrics from teenage road songs in christine and this one, he supplies dates from 1973-1974 to move it along, to help the reader out...and in this one, too...a bit like in rage where charlie decker's classmates cheer as their teacher lies dead on the floor...george "whizzer" dawes is immortalized a bit....sheesh, we're like that, aren't we? i remember when bundy was breaking out of jails in the west....colorado was it?...seems the radio stations were playing songs, the old man joking about it....maybe half the country....and the s.o.b. had killed how many?don't forget to vote.
