About book Rival Demons (2012)

I read the first five of these in a little over a day. They're not really thick or very long, but the wealth of information in them is astounding. Cannon's writing style also leaves very few words wasted. I can't say I'm invested in the series, it's fluff to me. Fluff with demons, but you can safely read the series and not worry about anything super-horrible happening to the characters you're familiar with and fond of.I kinda love the idea of a town using cheerleaders to spread their demonic evil, without the demons themselves being evil. It's an interesting plot, since I'm used to evil demons, perverted demons, or in the case of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a musical-loving demon. Some of the secondary characters aren't very fleshed put, but I can't say that lessens them any. You're told the most important thing about them, then they either disappear or show up only to be bitchy/cranky/bossy/helpful/creepy.The series definitely improves with each book. In this one, Harper is fed up of being told what to do and when to do it, and finally shows everyone what a Prima can do. (I can't get behind some of the terminology in this series, but eh. One book left in the series, so like I'm going to hold it against the author.) The ending threw me for a loop, and I'm anxious to read the last book in the series, even if the ending to Rival Demons has me feeling I know what happens. Holy. Fucking. Hell. What. The. Fuck?!I have officially been mind-fucked. I really don't know what to say. This...This book was sooooo amazing. I'm struggling for words here. I really didn't think it'd be possible to be so fucking speechless.I'm really gonna try to not give anything away, and like the others, I'll probably have to edit this review. Can I just say that this is one of the most amazing series I've ever read. Seriously, it's amazing. You people should really give this a try.Anywho, on with the review.I loved this book, not just loved but LOVED this book. And even though I wanted to throw it once or twice I am actually glad it played out the way it did. Yeah normally I'm all "I FUCKING HATE YOU! I DON'T WANT TO FINISH YOU!" And of course I finish the book because I have to (totally irrelevant). I think I'm actually starting to enjoy the bad because then good stuff happens. Well at least in this series. In other series its good stuff, bad stuff, more bad stuff, then worst stuff, a little bit better stuff, then bad stuff. Fuck that. Good job Sara. Umm..yeah I realize half of this is irrelevant but hey it's my review. Anyway, I was shocked. After something major happened (seriously you haven't read major till you read this series) I wanted to put it down so I could actually let whatever happened set in my mind, but I couldn't, I HAD to keep going. And that's what I love about this series is that no matter how much you want to, you can't put it down. You're like fighting yourself trying to make this decision, and I love when that happens cause then you know its a damn good book.Umm...I actually like the whole story. Granted there were a few time when I wanted to cry, cause let's face it, there's always that heartbreak you feel when someone gets their heartbroken. And then there were tears of joy that I found myself fighting as well. And I like that Jackson is sweet. He isn't as sarcastic or as much of a smartass as Patch from Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick but that's okay because it suits him. And man can Sarra create a perfect guy or what? And normally I'd say that Harper cries waaaaaay too much in this book for my liking, but given the situation she was in, it was kind of neccessary. Did she cry all the time? No. Which was great. Like when it came to....The place Jackson took her, she didn't show any tears when she was there. She was calm and collected and I'll be honest, I would've punched someone. But hey, that's just me.I'm actually hoping Mary Ann gets her chance to pop back up in the next book along with Courtney. Because I like Mary Ann and Courtney. I was really disappointed when Courtney didn't get a chance to join in on a umm....mission with Mary Ann. That's all I'm saying on the subject because I'm not trying to spoil this. I'm actually sad to see this come to an end. I was so excited and of course I'm happy but I just want to continue reading. I haven't been this sad to see a series come to end since I finished The Hollow by Jessica Verday. :( I'm so happy, I'm sad. I guess this is all for now. You guys go enjoy this series. Enjoy being mind-blown and uhh..have a nice day. :)Enjoy!
