About book Reveal (2000)

From a very early age, Shay Tafford has been able to speak to the dead. She can also see them. It's a gift she doesn't speak much about for fear of being ousted by others. Deep inside, she knows there's something about herself that makes her unique, even if she can't quite understand the reason why. Someone out there must know the reasons behind she can do what she does. Unfortunately, there's no one she can truly place her trust in so that she can find out what she needs to know.Everything changes, however, when the ghostly Jeremy introduces her to Hugh, a guy she's had a crush on for ages. Hugh seems to know exactly who and what she is, and will gladly fill her in on what she doesn't know. Doing so, sadly, comes with a price. One neither of them is sure they want to pay.Determined to make the most of the situation they now find themselves in, Shay promises herself that she'll do whatever is necessary to fulfill the legacy she's been bequeathed with. Part of her knows it's the only way she'll gain the needed answers about her missing father. If she and Hugh are to fulfill the spoken prophecy, she'll need to trust in herself and her instincts. The question is, how can she do that when she's not exactly sure what she should be doing in the first place?A short, but definitely thrilling, read, Reveal immerses you in a paranormal world where the dead and the living collide. Shay has access to both worlds whether she wants it or not. She might not understand what's going on, but she's definitely trying to make up for lost time. Brina has nicely put together a world that's quite vivid to imagine. I look forward to what comes next for this series. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.SHAY ~ Has no father figure growing up and her childhood memories aren't of picnics and fishing but rather talking to the dead! A macabre ability she tries to hide for obvious reasons!? Her "bestie" is Jeremy who happens to be dead (go figure). There's a twist to her "gifts" and all is not as it seems, unknown to Shay she is a part of something much bigger than herself.HUGH~The hunk she's had her eye on for some time shares her "gift" and he has the answers to many of her questions. "Cryptids" ~ A new concept for me they're half human, half animal, but they're not like werewolves or shapeshifters. They're something unique and different. It was an easy & entertaining read, and I can't help but ask myself "What's next?"★★★★Reviewed by Heidi
