Return of the Homework Machine is the sequel to The Homework Machine by Dan Gutman. It’s about four kids named Snik, Brenton, Judy and Kelsey. When the superchip for the machine goes missing, Snik, Brenton, Judy, and Kelsey worry that it might have fallen into the wrong hands. They search for the chip and end up hunting for treasure. This book is a great follow-up to the previous book and I really enjoyed it. The author used good details to make it seem like you are watching a movie in your head as you read it. It is funny and adventurous. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys adventures, action, and comedy. This is a good book for children in 5th or 6th grade as they can relate to what is going on. This is the second book in the series and it is very helpful to have read the first. The characters are mostly the same and involve the same Homework Machine. However, this one has some differences. The kids did enjoy it, but not as much as the other one. It seems darker, and deeper, and not nearly as child friends. It is good, and I have read it a couple of times before now, but I definitely wouldn't go much younger than 4th grade and definitely not higher than 6th grade if doing it as a read aloud or as a read for a group.
