Twentieth episode in the Brunetti series but arguably the weakest of the four I have read so far. Certain plot elements are left hanging as if the author was changed course mid-novel. Possibly she stumbled on a very good characterisation in her classic Brunetti theme set piece moment and felt compelled to stay with him? Also, some of the cliches start to repeat. Nevertheless, the style and flavour in the writing are very pleasant, and make for a relaxed and enjoyable read. I was listening to this one while I was reading Donna Leon's newest Inspector Brunetti and I liked this one much better. Sometimes he can't ever seem to get an answer out of his suspects and it seems he has to grill them forever which is a bit tiring, but other than that, I love the characters and the location. The ending was troublesome to me because I really still don't know who did it or if it was even a murder. I wonder - am I the only one? Did I miss something everyone else figured out?
Do You like book Reiches Erbe (2011)?
Enjoy the family dynamics in this series. This is a mystery about whether or not a mystery exists.
