The final chapter in this series was well done. Overall, I wanted to find out how the rainbow crew (as I have come to call them) made out after their high school graduation. [Spoiler Alert]It's nice that Nelson FINALLY finds someone and he has the courage to do something bold, from his heart, that actually might be really good for him. That he was able to find that and finally separate his symbiotic relationship (relying on Kyle as his Jimeny Cricket) was an added bonus. That Mr. Sanchez turned the road trip to highlight the various facets of the gblt community was an interesting ploy but there were times I felt it a little too perfect to hit upon all of these on one trip, when in reality, our road trips rarely turn out to be across all the spectrums as portrayed in the book (yes, I am aware its a fictional book and not real life but just sayin').The characters blossomed a bit more though the trip seemed only to magnify their worst traits (to drive drama in the story perhaps?). I still found Nelson's mouth to be a constant irritant and was right there with Kyson (Jason/Kyle) when they'd tell him to shut up. Jason's self-deprecating silent mode (whenever he didn't feel fairly proud of his actions) got a bit tiresome as well. Seriously, I remember making mistakes like this in my youth but either I was really quick to correct my course of action when something didn't work or these guys (including Kyle) are rather thick in the head.Overall it was a nice conclusion, if a bit over the top contrived. I am glad that on the road back Jason and Kyle were able to find common and firmer (not on a pedestal) place for their relationship to grow. Again, BIG kudos to Alex for including all of the GBLT resources in the back of the book. It never hurts to keep the youth (who might read these books) informed about what's available to them.
I've learned a lot from this book. Mainly that There musn't exist hatred toward GLBT people. They surely have feelings that Must be respected. They go through an eternal Hell to be more unsulted. we are not sick, that's just how we are born. I'm Bisexual. And so I do know the pain of such circumstances, the bullying, the names.(in my scenario hadn't been in those stages) But i've heard others talk about "US" with such disgust, and hate, with humiliation. And just like Jason, most of the time i said nothing. I kept myself quiet!! now i know how truly coward i was. But now, after reading this book and others related about us, our lives, our love. I've gained courage to help those with trouble. I won't get myself Shut off, I'll rage into a Defender, to help "my Family" as Nelson call those of you like me and the rest. I characterize deeply with kyle, and Jason. Those two characters truly describe my personality, kyle the part of sweet, and smart, and Jason; being strong and courageous. Nelson's character is part of my family, our family and so i truly admire him, with respect. Those of you who have the guts to just show yourselves to the world with no remorse or fear, are all my heroes, You deserve all the due respect from a comrade like me. Go GLBT, Show your voice. Alex truly understand the "Family" in such amazing and pleasing way that just make me all happy to literally eat this and all his books. Thank You Alex Sanchez. *Hugs* & *Kisses* fellows
Do You like book Rainbow Road (2007)?
IF this was book three of a series, I would have been much happier. As the final book of a trilogy, I was less enthused. However, it is tough to be hard of Alex Sanchez because there are not enough of these stories out there for gay youth. As many of the other reviews on this page, point out, there are many young gay men out there that have been touched by or identified with this series. I like the overall story. I particularly liked the how the relationship between Kyle and Jason evolved over their physical and emotional road trip. There were some wonderfully sweet moments that took me back time to my first relationship with another man.I was disappointed in the conclusion to Nelson's story. There are some beautiful notes in Nelson's story; the vignette with little Esau is an exceptional and touching example. However, just throwing him in a relationship at the last moment was a little boyfriend-ex-machina for me. This character deserved much better treatment. Again, if there had been additional books in the series, it could be overlooked, but as an ending, I was left disappointed.Criticisms aside, this is a fantastic series that I would highly recommend despite a less than satisfying ending.

4.5This was a fun ending and a great trilogy in general. I read each book one after the other because I wanted to know what happened so much. Although the ending wasn't entirely realistic I still enjoyed it sooo much! I really connected to the characters and wanted them to succeed in everything they did. Each book I feel like I got to know each character more because of the altering perspectives. I really felt for all of them. For the trilogy as a whole, I like that all three books were a contin

This is a story about 3 homosexual friends who have just graduated college. This story is told in 3 perspectives, kyle, nelson, and jason. Jason and kyle are boyfriends but Jason lost his basketball scholarship and has been invite to speak at a gay and lesbien high school that has just opened. He tells kyle about it and kyle is very happy to join his boyfriend, inviting nelson along who ahs not found his love yet and worries about being the third wheel. This was a more intresting story about the life of 3 homosexuals trying to cope through life. the plot was very nicely put out.
