About book Radiant Darkness (2009)

Seeing as Hades is the original and ultimate "bad boy", I tend to give authors some slack whenever he's written, especially if there is a good bit of smoldering about. I thought Whitman did a lovely job capturing the characters, I enjoyed her portrayal of Persephone and, while I wish she spent a bit more time with Hades' character (I'm partial, sue me), I enjoyed that she didn't make him too nice or too brooding. My biggest problem was with the ending, it felt a little too nicely packaged with a bow. But, as I said previously, I forgive a lot when Hades is involved. I definitely devoured this book in a few hours and I'm looking forward to more by Whitman! Writing this brief review from memory since its been a while since I've read this. I thought it was a cute children's story about the relationship between Hades and Persephone. I didn't know anything from Greek mythology about Persephone's relationship with her mom but that was well done too. I liked the kinder side of Hades shown in this story. He seemed more lovable than his usual villainous depictions.
