About book Queens Consort: England's Medieval Queens (2008)

This was an interesting look into some of the queens of England. I was not impressed with all of her theories about some of these women, but her overall writing was great. I loved looking through time at the lives of these women and what they were faced with. She weaves a great thread of historical semblance into the relatively obscure lives of these women. Some of the chapters take a while to read as you have to reread some of the paragraphs to make sure that you understand what she is trying to say, but the overall effect was great. Hilton's study of Medieval Queenship is both excellently written and meticulously researched. In particular I read the sections on Marguerite of Anjou through Elizabeth of York. I read several reviews which didn't like how she split the queens into different chapters but then wrote everything in a linear fashion; however, I thought it made sense to do it this way as this is a study of the evolution of queenship itself, more so than a personal examination of the personalities and life of each queen.I would highly recommend this as a research resource.

It was long. The writing was flat. I immensely disliked it.
